ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY OF THE 56 RALLYRACC CATALUNYA-COSTA DAURADA 2022
The organization of the RallyRACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada declares its commitment to continue working on the reduction of the environmental impact of the Rally within the framework of the FIA SUSTAINABILITY PROGRAMME ACREDITATION achieved in 2017 in degree of excellence.
In this context, the organization undertakes to devote all necessary efforts to carry out the following actions:
- Respect all the applicable legal regulations issued by public administrations as well as the FIA Framework for Environmental Certification.
- Disseminate and promote knowledge of the environmental policies implemented among all members of the organization, participating teams and the public.
- Calculate the CO2 emissions generated by the RACC Rally in three sectors: organization, teams and public.
- Compensate for at least the CO2 emissions generated by the organization and do so within the territorial scope in which the Rally is held, and study how to offset those produced by the audience and the participating teams.
- Minimize vehicle travel by the organization. Those that cannot be reduced will be carried out in hybrid (gasoline / CNG) and electric vehicles optimizing shared vehicles to the maximum.
- Sensitize the public attending the special stages about share vehicles.
- To test, in a few stages, a new model of immediate waste collection right after the end of the stage, in order to make it more efficient and allow for more sustainable waste management.
- Distribute bags in public areas of the sections so that the attending public collaborates in the collection of waste and Install containers in areas with special public presence for the use of attendees and launch awareness and information campaigns aimed at the public.
- Organize brigades to clear a 2 km strip to the right and left along the entire special stage once finished
- Develop an action plan for accidents that may have an environmental impact, coordinating with security forces such as firefighters, mossos and local police.
- Prioritize the use of digital media over paper media. In cases where the use of paper cannot be replaced, it will be environmentally friendly.
- Install plastic, paper, glass, organic and rest containers in the Service Park in order to collect and properly manage all non-polluting materials that may be generated both by the participating teams and by the organization itself and the attending public. The waste management company must comply with the environmental certifications necessary for the ecological management of waste.
- Install in the Service Park a special waste recycling area, mandatory for all equipment, in order to deposit in appropriate containers all the polluting substances they generate and enable proper management.
- Avoid soil contamination by forcing all equipment to place a sufficient surface plastic cover under vehicles when performing maintenance and mechanical tasks. The cover must be waterproof and in good condition to collect any contaminants and prevent them from contacting the ground even in case of rain.
- Enable an area to wash vehicles that meets the requirements established by legislation for the collection and recycling of dirty water. This area will be the only one allowed for all teams, it will be outside the Assistance Park and will be conveniently indicated in the Road Book of the participants.
- Try to reduce energy consumption in the Service Park, as well as in the officines of the organization.
- Prioritize the use of reusable cups in the bars of the Service Park or, if it is not possible, use recyclable cardboard cups.
- Disseminate all these environmental policies on social networks and in any other medium used to publicize the Rally.
