Rally Catalunya Històric-Rally de Les Caves opens entry period

11/12/2019

• Salou joins the historic car rally of the RACC
• Hilton Diagonal Mar Barcelona renews its sponsorship for the third consecutive year, thus consolidating the long-term collaboration with the event

The 4th edition of the Rally Catalunya Històric-Rally de les Caves has opened its entry period. The regularity race for historic vehicles organised by the RACC will be staged on 28 and 29 February 2020, and will cover approx. 600 km, with start and finish in the city of Barcelona. Although the route will remain a secret until a few days before the start, participants will spend the night in Salou, a fact that gives a hint that most of the stages will be WRC stages.

In this fourth edition, the RACC and the Belgian organiser Ypres Historic Rally have signed an agreement to create the "Historic Regularity Challenge" for 2020, with the aim of promoting and sharing the experiences of these two historic rallies. The winner of the Rally Catalunya Històric 2020 will get a free entry for the Ypres Historic Regularity Rally 2020 (27 to 29 November), while the winning crew of the Belgian race will get a free entry for the Rally Catalunya Històric 2021 in the Premium modality (all included). Moreover, the overall winner of the "Historic Regularity Challenge" will be able to enter the Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique 2021 for free. Therefore, and considering the prestige built by the Rally Catalunya Històric, a significant level of entries is expected.

Two rally days and three participation modalities
As a novelty in this edition, the crews will be able to choose from three types of entry: Premium, Basic and One-day. Premium is a modality that includes everything, both for driver and co-driver. There will be an en-route buffet, dinner and hotel accommodation in a double room (breakfast included) on the first day; and lunch, closure dinner with prize-giving and hotel accommodation in a double room (breakfast included) on the second day at the Hotel Hilton Diagonal Mar. Moreover, the entry fee does also include the luggage transport throughout the rally, Blunik timekeeping, GPS tracking, the sending of stage-by-stage results to mobile devices, exclusive presents for driver and co-driver, collector's programme with pictures of all the participating cars, metal plate of the event and "finisher" memento for driver and co-driver, amongst other services. This option has a price of €1,500 per team.

The Basic version, a novelty in this edition, includes en-route buffet and closure dinner, with a cost of €1,000 per crew. This time, there will also be the ‘One-day' modality available, which offers the chance to participate only on Saturday 29, for €500 per crew, including the closure dinner. In addition to the different options to be able to enjoy the rally, there are also significant discounts available to certain crews: RACC members, repeating participants, and participants providing for the entry of a driver who had not entered the race before.

At a sports level, the Rally Catalunya Històric-Rally de Les Caves is based on regularity on closed roads, combining daytime and night-time driving, this time offering two categories to choose from: Regularity Sport (top speed 55 km/h) with high and low average and Regularity Super Sport (top speed 70 km/h).

All crews interested in entering the Rally Catalunya Històric may do so until 11 February 2020, the closure date of the entry period. The entry form is already available on the  website www.rallycatalunyahistoric.com and the number of entries is limited to 60 cars.

Salou joins the Rally Catalunya Històric
Although the itinerary will remain unveiled until the final moment, the RACC has revealed the location of the end of the first leg, and the place in which the rally will spend the night on 28 February: Salou. The notoriety of this tourist village at the Costa Daurada is booming, largely due to the fact that the village has been host to the RallyRACC, an event that forms part of the FIA World Rally Championship, and its urban stage, for fifteen years. Salou is the ideal frame for the popular parc fermé, and the start and finish podium of the world championship event. The novelty of the inclusion of Salou into the Rally Catalunya Històric is great news for participants and followers.

Hilton Diagonal Mar Barcelona renews its sponsorship for the third consecutive year, thus consolidating the long-term collaboration with the event
