Final assessment by Aman Barfull, Clerk of the Course: "We have experienced an unrepeatable edition"

02/11/2015

The usual final assessment by Aman Barfull, Clerk of the Course of the RallyRACC, head of the Sports Area of the club, and President of the FIA Rally Commission, highlights the success of the event in all aspects, just like in previous years.

I still remember talking last year about the level reached by the 50th edition, and that it would be difficult to top it, and this year, the term that comes to my mind is just unrepeatable. Actually all of the editions are unrepeatable, but this is exactly the reason why we should highlight that the level reached by our rally is so high, that any tiny nuance or innovation creates an effect that makes it unique, underlined by an exciting sporting result, which was broadcasted live on TV.

I would like to highlight the help that we have received from all those who believe in the RallyRACC and work countless hours with the only reward of being involved in a unique and unrepeatable event. I don't want to give specific details, but all of those who worked at the 51 RallyRACC know that it's been an excellent work as a whole. Anyone and everyone. The help of all those involved has been essential, either as a professional or as a volunteer. Like during the races as such, these two figures combine perfectly well and I would say that having them together with one and the same target is essential to be able to enjoy the level that everybody is praising. Without the tight collaboration we would not be able to reach the organisational excellence we enjoy.

I also want to mention the urban stages that we have experienced this year again. There were no changes, they were exactly the same as last year, but the special set-up they demand and the responsibility involved are always a new effort for many people. And this year I would like to underline the speed with which we were able to dismantle the whole set and bring back normality to the respective areas in Barcelona and Salou. In Barcelona, normality came back only five hours after the passage of the last participant.

The territory in which the RallyRACC is carried out enjoys our race, it's only logical, and it is the way we want it to be, but there are some inconveniences to which we have to pay special attention. The RACC cleaned the area of the stages, we repaired tracks and we have always responded to all complaints. But we have to be aware that an event of this dimension, followed by thousands of people coming from all around the world, does imperatively need a couple of days to leave everything as it was.

The last aspect I would like to highlight is the impact of our RallyRACC. It is not only about praising the dissemination we had in all types of media, the fact that we had live broadcasting in Barcelona and in Duesaigües, and that the signal was sent to 90 countries, it is also about highlighting the thousands of press releases, photographs and tweets that were generated, and that went around the globe taking the name of Catalonia, the Costa Daurada and Spain to all corners of the planet. We have to remember that a well-organised rally, which according to many has the best level of the championship, creates an opinion among all those who experience it, and this is the perception that they have taken back to their more than 30 countries of origin, as the excellent ambassadors that they are.

This is something to be taken into account. We have a rally that has been staged 51 times, 25 of which as a scoring round towards the World Championship. All those who are involved in this sport have already marked the October dates of the next edition. Let's appreciate and celebrate it as well!

Congratulations to all of you for making such an exceptional 51 RallyRACC, #WeAreAllRallyRACC.
