As huge crowds gathered for the opening speed stage of the 51 RallyRACC CATALUNYA-COSTA DAURADA, the penultimate round of the World Rally Championship, the whole operation required substantial safety measures. As soon as the last car crossed the finish line, the RACC gave the green light to the reconditioning of the whole area, in order to bring it back to its usual state. Maria Cristina and Rius i Taulet avenues were reopened to traffic less than five hours later, at around 2 am on Friday.

The remaining elements still located in the pedestrian area around Montjuïc´s Magic Fountain and Cascades Square were dismantled on Friday morning. The RACC used concrete Jersey barriers totalling as much as 2,400 linear meters. These 2-meter modular barriers, plus the over 4,200 linear meters of fences, were transported by 47 articulated lorries. Two overhead gateways were also installed to allow spectators to move across both sides of the track.

The street stage in Barcelona was a great success in all fronts. It attracted a 20,000-strong crowd and was broadcasted live by Esport3 and Teledeporte TV channels, and the TV signal was delivered to 90 countries around the world.
