Classics with history at the 51 RallyRACC

20/10/2015

After being recovered one year ago, the classic vehicles with history will be once again bringing back special memories at this 2015 edition of the RallyRACC. Just like last season, the organisation managed by Reinhard Klein has gathered a group of representative vehicles from the 1970s and 80s, some of them original pieces, but all with an impeccable aspect and state of conservation.

These classic cars with history will be running along all of the asphalt stages that will be raced by the modern cars, in between the two passages on Saturday and Sunday, although they will also be having their own show during the special stage in Barcelona, thus taking all attendants on a trip to the past, to remember those times in which they played the leading role on the roads and rallies around the world.

On Thursday 22, in Barcelona, they will be exhibited right next to the rally participants (from 13h), to start two laps around the stage layout from 16.30h and continue to the podium area in Salou, where they will have an outstanding place that they will only be leaving to cover the special stages on Saturday and Sunday. These classic vehicles with history will start the stages at intervals of 30 seconds, with specific 0 and 00 cars, and will cover the road sections in caravan formation.

The Group B are back
The Group B vehicles will obviously be the highlight for all fans, but the Group 4 and 2 vehicles will with no doubt be the perfect complement to represent an era that is still alive in the memories of the most veteran fans. Not to be missed in the Group B list are Audi Quattro, version A2 (1983, decoration Audi Sport) and version E2 (1985, decoration HB); Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 E1 (1984, exBruno Saby, Peugeot Talbot Sport); Ford RS200 (1986, exFord Motorsport); and MG Metro 6R4 (1986, Computervisión). The first 2WD in Group B will be represented by a Renault 5 Turbo (1984, Renault Sport) and an Opel Manta 400 (1985, Fisher Gold Car).

Group 4, living history
Back in those times, when the Group 4 cars ruled, the spectacularity of the events reached their maximum highlight with those endless skiddings. A must from those times are the Lancia Stratos, with two units from 1975 and 1979 (Tony Carello, Marlboro); two Ford Escort, one MK1 (1974, World Cup Rally) and one RS1800 (Diabolique); and three Alpine-Renault,  Berlinetta versions A-110 1800 (1975, Lucas Sainz) and A-310 (1976, 1977, Calberson).

Group 2 flying vehicles
The Group 2 cars were protagonists of a great time and some nice representatives are going to be seen at the 51 RallyRACC, such as two Opel Ascona, one A Automatik version (1973, Opel Schweden) and another A (1974, Opel Euro Händler Team); Mercedes 450 SLC 5.0 (1980, Jorge Recalde); and several less powerful units but not less interesting: Mini Cooper S (1962, Pat Moss), Peugeot 104 ZS (1977, Lefebvre-Todt), Daff 66 (1974, Gulf Star Team); and Seat Panda 40 (1982, Carlos Sainz).

Group A with tradition
The first Group A vehicles will also be part of the caravan of classic cars with history of the 51 RallyRACC and with units that will be a delight for all fans: BMW M3 (1987), Ford Sierra RS Cosworth (1987, exGwyndaf Evans), Lancia Delta HF Integrale (1993, Carlos Sainz-Repsol), Audi Coupé Quattro (1987, David Lewellin-Shell), etc.
