The RallyRACC arrives this Friday in Barcelona with activities for all ages

(25/10/2013)

Barcelona's Cathedral

The 49th RallyRACC Catalunya-COSTA DAURADA will start today from Barcelona with activities prepared for all ages. Before the Ceremonial Start that will take place at 18.00, the public will be able to get closer to the riders and live the atmosphere of a real World Championship round.

The youngest kids will be the first to enjoy these activities, as they can take part in Bicivismo (10.00 a 12.00 horas), where they can learn road safety with qualified professionals while riding a bike, which will help them train as pedestrians and encourage civility.

When this activity ends, also in front of the Barcelona Cathedral the parc fermé will start to form, as the World Championship drivers must arrive with their cars between 14.00h and 15.30h from PortAventura. When that happens, the RallyRACC in Barcelona will follow this schedule, with activities that enhance both show and contact with the fans:

16:00 a 17:30: Autograph session with the drivers
17:00 a 17:30: Presentation of the drivers
17:30: Official photo with all priority drivers and authorities
18:00: Official Ceremonial Start from the Cathedral’s staircase. The cars will go through Portal de l’Àngel, Plaça de Catalunya, Ronda Universitat, Sepúlveda, Plaça Espanya, Gran Via and towards AP2. The route must follow the traffic and safety rules. After the start, the drivers will face the first three stages of the day, all of them at night and on tarmac: Querol, El Montmell and Riudecanyes.

At 23.22h, the drivers are expected to reach the parc Fermé in PortAventura, another interesting point for the fans.

A world rally championship round arrival arouses passions not only among the fans. Many politicians and members of different institutions will take part in the Start, with several authorities, led by the Barcelona Mayor, Xavier Trias and Deputy Mayor for Sports, Maite Fandos, who will accompany the RACC President, Sebastià Salvadó, and the Sports Secretary of the Catalan Government, Ivan Tibau.

Before, at 16.15h and in the Architects Association, two-times World Champion co-driver, Luis Moya, will give a lecture about what a World Championship round is to the public invited.
