RallyRACC 2012: Five drivers going in for the PWRC title

(29/10/2012)

The end of the PWRC season at the RallyRACC 2012 is a fact that will provide for special excitement at the Spanish round of the World Championship, considering that this support championship will decide the title in Catalunya, with 5 drivers going in for the title of the Production cars category. Two Spanish co-drivers will be sitting in two of these cars.

Before the event in Sardinia, there were up to nine drivers with chances to take the lead, but the Italian round reduced the number of aspirants to five, or actually six if we would apply strict mathematics. Mexican driver Benito Guerra (84 points) will defend his leadership with quite a comfortable margin, but not enough with respect to four drivers: Michal Kosciuszko from Poland and Valeriy Gorban from Ukraine (both with 73 points), Peruvian driver and winner in Italy Nicolás Fuchs (71 points) and Marcos Ligato from Argentina (70 points), while Indonesian driver Subhan Aksa (62 points) does also have a chance, though small.

The RallyRACC will therefore not only be decisive but also the venue of a great battle with several interests. There are two well-known Spanish co-drivers in this class: 26-year-old Borja Rozada from Madrid, co-driving for Guerra, and 33-year-old Catalan Alex Haro, sitting at the right-hand side of Triviño, both of them Mexican drivers. The victories in this category have been clinched so far by Benito Guerra (2), Michal Kosciuszko (2), Valeriy Gorban, Marcos Ligato and Nicolás Fuchs (one each).

There will be two Spanish drivers taking part in the PWRC category of the RallyRACC as guest drivers: Yeray Lemes and Josep Maria Membrado, both at the wheel of a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X. The entry list for the PWRC category in the RallyRACC is made-up of 14 participants. An interesting list that will surely provide for great competitiveness.
