Citroën tries to secure the rally and the championship in the third and final day of the RallyRACC
 | Service Park, PortAventura. RallyRACC 2009 | The third and final leg of the 45 RallyRACC Catalunya-COSTA DAURADA started this morning at 7.15 am with three double-run special stages totalling 93.88 competitive kilometres. Riudecanyes (16.32 km), Santa Marina (26.51 km) and La Serra d’Almos (4.11 km) will be the stages closing the 45 Rally de España.
So far, Sébastien Loeb and Dani Sordo, both on Citroën C4 WRC, have kept this round under their iron grip. If the situation remains unchanged, as expected, Citroën will clinch the Constructors World Championship by the end of the day. The Drivers Championship will be unveiled in Wales (October 23-25), where Hirvonen and Loeb could likely arrive with a meager single point gap.
The 60 cars still on the race will take on the shortest leg in the event today. The 45 RallyRACC will end at Salou’s seafront, in the Paseo Jaume I podium, with the arrival of participants expected at 15.07 hours, and the trophy ceremony for the winners.
This popular event, being held in the Costa Daurada and Salou area, with PortAventura facilities at the disposal of teams and organizers, can be considered the best platform to host the Spanish round of the World Rally Championship.
