El tercer doblete consecutivo de Citroën, deja el WRC en una situación encarrilada

Tercer doblete consecutivo esta temporada de los Citroën C4 de Sébastien Loeb-Daniel Elena y Dani Sordo-Marc Martí, esta vez en el 44 movistar RallyRACC Catalunya-COSTA DAURADA, Rally de España, con lo que el Campeonato del Mundo FIA de Rallyes toma un claro color, el del equipo francés. Los Ford Focus de Mikko Hirvonen-Jarmo Lehtinen y François Duval-Patrick Pivato han seguido a los C4 en la clasificación final del Rally de España, siendo quintos Petter Solberg-Phil Mills (Subaru).

La última jornada de carrera ha sido prácticamente un calco de las dos anteriores, con Loeb y Sordo encabezando siempre la clasificación. Los scratch de Duval, Sordo e Hirvonen (3) han aportado cierta novedad al continuo dominio de Loeb, que en todo caso además de marcar un scratch no ha dejado de controlar la prueba en ningún momento. Si el francés ha podido siempre con el español, lo mismo ha hecho casi siempre el belga Duval respecto al finlandés Hirvonen, aunque al final las posiciones se han invertido. El único percance de hoy entre los vehículos de punta ha sido la avería de Urmo Aava (Citroën), hasta ese momento excelente quinto.

La situación del mundial queda ahora mucho más clara para Citroën, y más cuando dentro de cinco días, en el asfalto de Córcega, los C4 volverán a salir como favoritos. Comenta Sebastián Loeb: "En esta etapa me he dedicado a controlar, sin tomar riesgos. Esta victoria en Catalunya, la número 45 en mi palmarés, es muy importante y relanza notablemente nuestras opciones de renovar el título". El de este año es el cuarto triunfo consecutivo del Campeón del Mundo en el Rally de España, mientras que también es la tercera segunda plaza consecutiva de Sordo en esta misma carrera.

El título en J-WRC deberá esperar
La inesperada salida de pista de Sébastien Ogier (Citroën) en la última especial de ayer provocó un completo cambio en la categoría sub28. El francés no ha tomado la salida hoy, de modo que el checo Martin Prokop (Citroën) se ha dedicado a controlar la situación dejando que Aaron Burkart, Michal Kosciuszko y Jaan Mölder marcaran los mejores tiempos. El mundial, que se decidirá en Córcega, está ahora más apretado que nunca, pero con dos únicos candidatos al título: Ogier y Burkart, clasificados por este orden y separados por 4 puntos.

El 44 RallyRACC ha demostrado su elevado nivel organizativo, algo de lo que se han hecho eco pilotos y jefes de equipo. Aman Barfull, director de carrera del RallyRACC, pasa balance de la organización: "Hemos vivido de nuevo una edición de alto nivel organizativo. Los responsables del mundial han podido apreciar pequeños avances que hemos introducido este año, como el tablón de anuncios virtual que cualquiera puede consultar en www.rallyracc.com, algo que muy posiblemente se instituya definitivamente en todas las pruebas del campeonato".

Barfull también quiere hacer un balance extraordinariamente positivo del trabajo conjunto de las fuerzas de seguridad que han colaborado en el control de la carrera. "A partir de 2009 la responsabilidad de la seguridad recaerá íntegramente en los Mossos d'Esquadra, pero el traspaso definitivo de competencias de la Guardia Civil hacia la policía catalana ha sido modélico y desde el RACC queremos agradecer la inestimable colaboración de este cuerpo durante todos estos años". Para premiar dicha labor, el General-Jefe de la VII Zona de la Guardia Civil, D. Luis Iglesias Martínez, ha recibido el premio "Abu Dhabi Spirit of the Rally", instituido por la FIA.

La siguiente prueba del mundial se celebrará la próxima semana, entre los días 10 y 12 de octubre, en la isla de Córcega. Será una nueva prueba sobre asfalto en la que los pilotos participarán con el mismo coche utilizado en la carrera española. La próxima edición del Rally de España está previsto que se celebre entre los días 1 y 4 de octubre de 2009.

The third consecutive 1-2 for Citroën, leaves WRC with a nearly settled situation

Third consecutive 1-2 of the season for the Citroën C4 of Sébastien Loeb-Daniel Elena and Dani Sordo-Marc Martí, this time in the 44 movistar RallyRACC Catalunya-COSTA DAURADA, Rally de España. So the FIA World Rally Championship title is getting an everyday clearer red colour of the French team. The Ford Focus' of Mikko Hirvonen-Jarmo Lehtinen and François Duval-Patrick Pivato followed the C4's in the overall classification of the Rally de España, in front of Petter Solberg-Phil Mills (Subaru), who were fifth.

The last day of the rally was nearly a copy of the two first days, with Loeb and Sordo leading the standings. The best times of Duval, Sordo and Hirvonen (3) broke a little bit Loeb's continued dominion of the race but the French driver, apart from taking a best time, controlled the race from start to end. As Loeb always overcame his Spanish team mate, Duval did the same with Hirvonen, but in the final stages the positions were reversed. Today's only mishap among the leading cars was a mechanical failure for Urmo Aava (Citroën), who was fifth until that moment.

The championship situation is much clearer for Citroën, especially when in five days; the C4 will take the Corsican tarmac as favourites. Sèbastien Loeb said: "Today I managed my advantage without taking any risks. This victory in Catalunya is my 45th. It is very important and enhances our options to win the title". This is also the fourth consecutive win of the World Champion in the Rally de España, and the third consecutive time that Sordo is second in this race.

The J-WRC title will have to wait
The unexpected off of Sébastien Ogier (Citroën) in yesterday's last special changed the situation completely in the sub28 class. The French driver could not get to the start today, so Martin Prokop (Citroën) just had to manage his advantage and leave Aaron Burkart, Michal Kosciuszko and Jaan Mölder to set best times. The championship, which will be decided in Corsica, is closer than ever, with the two only contestants for the title: Ogier and Burkart, separated by only 4 points.

The 44 RallyRACC showed a high organizational efficiency, something that commented both drivers and team managers. Aman Barfull, race director of the RallyRACC, summarizes the organization: "We had a new edition with a very high organizational level. The world championship managers could notice the improvements we presented this year, such as the online noticeboard that everyone can check at www.rallyracc.com, something that could possibly be transferred to the rest of the rounds of the championship".

Barfull also praised the work of the security forces that collaborate in controlling the race. "From 2009, the responsibility of security will be entirely of the Mossos d'Esquadra, but the transfer of responsibilities from the Guardia Civil to the Catalan police has been model and from the RACC we would like to thank the collaboration of the this body during all this years". As a reward for their work, the General of the VII Region of the Civil Guard, Mr. Luis Iglesias Martínez, received the FIA award "Abu Dhabi Spirit of the Rally".

The next round of the championship will take place next week, from October 10th. To October 12th. In the island of Corsica. It will be another tarmac round and the drivers will use the same car as in Spain. The next edition of the Rally de España is set to be in October 1-4, 2009.

Tercer doblet consecutiu aquesta temporada dels Citroën C4 de Sébastien Loeb-Daniel Elena i Dani Sordo-Marc Martí, aquesta vegada el 44 movistar RallyRACC Catalunya-COSTA DAURADA, Rally de España, amb el que el Campionat del Món FIA de Ral·lis agafa un clar color, el de l'equip francès. Els Ford Focus de Mikko Hirvonen-Jarmo Lehtinen i François Duval-Patrick Pivato han seguit els C4 en la classificació final del Rally de España, i han quedat cinquens Petter Solberg-Phil Mills (Subaru).

L'última jornada de cursa ha estat un calc pràcticament de les dues anteriors, amb Loeb i Sordo encapçalant sempre la classificació. Els scratch de Duval, Sordo i Hirvonen (3) han aportat una certa novetat al continu domini de Loeb, que en tot cas a més de marcar un scratch no ha deixat de controlar la prova en cap moment. Si el francès ha pogut sempre amb l'espanyol, el mateix ha fet gairebé sempre el belga Duval respecte al finlandès Hirvonen, encara que al final les posicions s'han invertit. L'únic contratemps d'avui entre els vehicles de punta ha estat l'avaria d'Urmo Aava (Citroën), fins a aquell moment excel·lent cinquè.

La situació del mundial queda ara molt més clara per a Citroën, i més quan en cinc dies, en l'asfalt de Còrsega, els C4 tornaran a sortir com a favorits. Comenta Sebastián Loeb: "En aquesta etapa m'he dedicat a controlar, sense prendre riscs. Aquesta victòria a Catalunya, la número 45 en el meu palmarès, és molt important i rellança notablement les nostres opcions de renovar el títol". El d'aquest any és el quart triomf consecutiu del Campió del Món en el Rally de España, mentre que també és la tercera segona plaça consecutiva de Sordo en aquesta mateixa cursa.

El títol de J-WRC haurà d'esperar

"A partir de 2009 la responsabilitat de la seguretat recaurà íntegrament en els Mossos d'Esquadra, però el traspàs definitiu de competències de la Guàrdia Civil cap a la policia catalana ha estat modèlic i des del RACC volem agrair la inestimable col·laboració d'aquest cos durant tots aquests anys". Per premiar l'esmentada tasca, el General-Cap de la VII Zona de la Guàrdia Civil, SR. Luis Iglesias Martínez, ha rebut el premi "Abu Dhabi Spirit of the Rally", instituït per la FIA.

La següent prova del mundial se celebrarà la propera setmana, entre els dies 10 i 12 d'octubre, a l'illa de Còrsega. Serà una nova prova sobre asfalt en la qual els pilots participaran amb el mateix cotxe utilitzat en la cursa espanyola. La propera edició del Rally de España està previst que se celebri entre els dies 1 i 4 d'octubre de 2009.
