RallyRACC 2009 confirmed for 1 to 4 October

The FIA World Motor Sport Council approved during the meeting held on Wednesday 5h November in Paris, the 2009 calendars, including that of the 2009 WRC, which has also been published in the Calendar section of the www.rallyracc.com website.  The 45 movistar RallyRACC Catalunya-COSTA DAURADA, Rally de Espaρa, penultimate scoring round of the 2009 World Rally Championship, will be staged from 1 to 4 October.

The definitive calendar of the 2009 has been one of the most important aspects dealt with at the World Motor Sport Council. The Rally de Espaρa will be the penultimate round of the overall WRC (12 rounds) and the last of the J-WRC (8 rounds).  The Spanish event will be held again on the Costa Daurada and the nerve centre will be located as usual in Salou and the PortAventura theme park. RACC Motor Sport is already studying the itinerary of the 45th edition of the Spanish WRC round.

The World Council also decided that the maximum number of events to be raced by Manufacturer Teams be 8, while Manufacturers will have to take part in the 12 scoring rounds as usual.

In order to limit future costs as much as possible, and on proposal of the WRC Commission, it was decided to postpone the definitive publication of the technical regulations of the future WRC, which will emerge from the Super 2000 and Group N vehicles, in order to have it well studied and to approve it for a long period of time.

It was also decided that the exclusive fuel provider for the FIA Rally World Championship from 2009 to 2011 be Petrochem Carless, which had already been official provider some seasons ago.
