RallyRACC opens its entry period with significant support for 4WD entrances

The entry period of the 44th RallyRACC CatalunyaCOSTA DAURADA, Rally de España, twelfth scoring round of the World Rally Championship to be held from October 2 to 5, 2008 with its base in Salou-PortAventura, will open next July 14 and close on August 28.

After the official publication of the rally route, the opening of the entry period somehow marks the real start of the Rally de España, since during these seven weeks we will be getting to know the participants of the Spanish round which is offering significant support to Spanish privateers.

In general, all Spanish drivers entering the Rally de España will benefit from a 50% discount on the entry fee, thus having to pay 1,750 euros, accepting the organiser's advertising.

Likewise, all privateers, - regardless of their nationality - entering the Rally de España with a 4WD car (except WRCars) before July 30, will also enjoy a 50% discount on the fees. All of these 4WD cars will have to use Pirelli tyres, as laid down by the FIA.

The maximum number of entrants has been set at 90. The Supplementary Regulations of the 44th RallyRACC CatalunyaCOSTA DAURADA, Rally de España will be published next August 1, including all information about the race.

Two possible Guest drivers entries in the J-WRC

The 44th RallyRACC will also be the penultimate round of the Junior WRC, a championship aimed at under28-year-old drivers, which is right now - after 3 out of 7 races - lead by French driver Sébastien Ogier (Citroën C2 S1600). The organiser has the right to enter two Spanish drivers as Guest Drivers for the race, who will thus be able to take part in this rally with the same privileges and conditions of all those entered, even being able to score points for the Junior World Rally Championship.  This is an additional appeal for all those Spanish drivers having a vehicle fulfilling the JWRC regulations.

It is worth mentioning, that all of the drivers who have entered the JWRC, a total of 17, will take part in the 2008 Rally de España. Together with the Rally of Italy, the RallyRACC is one of the two races chosen by all participants in their 2008 programme. Last year, the winner of the JWRC race in Spain was Swedish driver Per-Gunnar Andersson (Suzuki), while the victory in 2006 went to Czech driver Martin Prokop (Citroën) and in 2005 to Dani Sordo (Citroën) from Spain.
