The heart of the rally will be beating strongly at the Service Park in PortAventura

For the fourth season in a row, since the Spanish round of the WRC is held completely in the area of Tarragona, the key place hosting the real heart of the RallyRACC (2 to 5 October 2008) will be the facilities of PortAventura, venue not only to the Service Park but also to the rally headquarters and the media centre, in addition to being the hotel accommodation chosen by a large part of the teams. The Service Park of the Rally de España, with its more than 15,000 m2 surface and its large car park, has become one of the benchmarks of the Spanish round and the WRC.

The service part in the actual format of the world championship rallies is the only point of the route visited by all of the fans following the race on site.  Considering this exceptional feature, and in order to make it a living meeting point, but at the same time a place in which teams, drivers, media representatives and organization are able to work with total comfort, RACC Motor Sport will be making a major reorganization for this 44th edition of the rally.

The commercial area, which is open free of charge to the public, with a large offer of leisure areas, animation, atractions, exhibitions, merchandising and specialised products' stands, large information screens, interview areas, etc., will be the real core in the central part of the park, and the different service areas will be located around it: manufacturers on two sides, JWRC participants on another and non-prioritary participants on the fourth side.

Located almost next to Salou (1.6 km), closer than ever to the shakedown (21.7 km) and to several timed stages, the service park of the 44 RallyRACC Catalunya-COSTA DAURADA, Rally de España, will be opening its doors on Sunday 28th September for all manufacturer teams and one day later for the rest of the participants. The service park will also be hosting the scrutineering, as well as the official start and arrival of all of the rally days, except for the last one, which will be in Salou.

The 2008 WRC is just about to reach its halfway mark
After the Rally of Greece staged last week and with the Rally of Turkey to be raced from 13 to 15 June, the WRC has reached almost its halfway mark. Sébastien Loeb (Citroën C4 WRC) - winner of the Acropolis Rally- and BP Ford are leading the drivers and manufacturers championships respectively, with Sébastien Ogier (Citroën) leading the J-WRC and Andreas Aigner (Mitsubishi) on top of the P-WRC standings.
