Salou and Port Aventura, an ideal venue to host the WRC

RallyRACC Catalunya-COSTA DAURADA 2007

With no doubt, the choice of Salou and PortAventura as venues of the RallyRACC Catalunya-COSTA DAURADA, Rally de Espaņa, has been again a good decision. The beautiful village in the province of Tarragona is a tourist and residential area which year after year has strengthened its position as the biggest leisure and service centre of the Costa Daurada. The large tourist, hotel and restaurant offer, both as regards quantity and quality, make it a popular holiday destination throughout the year, thanks to its excellent Mediterranean weather, with stable temperatures and several beaches fitted with all necessary equipments and services. Rally fans do not only have the chance to enjoy the WRC race, but also to spend a few relaxing days surrounded by the warm waters of the always calm Mediterranean Sea.

Salou is the capital of the Costa Daurada and has been awarded as the number one tourist destination for families in Catalonia. There is an ambitious project including a Tourism Excellency Plan that will turn the area into a unique model for family tourism. With an extension of 15 km2, Salou is located some 100 km to the south of Barcelona, with an excellent connection to the airport, following the AP-7 highway. Salou is situated 2 metres over the sea level and has a population of almost 23,000 inhabitants, a figure that considerably increases during the holiday period.

PortAventura, a place to spend holidays and leisure time
The theme park PortAventura, located close to Salou, has turned out to be the best place to serve as the rally headquarters during the rally week, hosting the service area, the permanent offices and the media centre. PortAventura is a place of leisure where visitors can find absolutely everything, from attractions to shows, including a large restaurant and shop area, as well as a large and comfortable hotel offer, one of which (Hotel PortAventura) serves as accommodation to the main WRC teams and the RallyRACC organization.

The accommodation facilities in PortAventura evoke a charming Mediterranean village, witch several small houses surrounded by vegetation and two large outdoor swimming pools. Other services such as tennis courts, gym, fitness room, sauna or jacuzzi are also offered, thus making it an ideal place for sports lovers.
