RACC Motor Sports imparts a seminar in Buenos Aires for CODASUR officials

FIA Seminar in Buenos Aires by RACC Motor Sport

Last weekend a delegation of the RACC, lead by Aman Barfull, Director of the Sports Area, was in Buenos Aires to impart a seminar for officials of CODASUR (South American Motor Sports Confederation), in order to unify criteria with the view to include this South American Championship in the group of FIA labelled events.

Aman Barfull, who is also Clerk of the Course at the RallyRACC and member of the Rally and Racetrack Commissions of the Spanish Automobile Federation, dealt with the issues related to race direction at an international rally, including the respective safety plan. Barfull counted on the collaboration of Xavier Conesa, deputy clerk of the course at the RallyRACC, member of the FIA International Court of the Appeal and member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Automobile Federation, who highlighted the tasks of the Stewards and Jordi Parro, member of the Commission of Officials and responsible of rally observation at the Spanish Automobile Federation, who spoke about the different aspects included in an FIA observers' report and the process every organiser has to follow in order to comply with it.

The Codasur Rally Championship (8 scoring rounds) has already been staged for several years, but the intention of both the promoters and the FIA is to include it in the group of FIA labelled regional rally championships, just like the Championships held in Europe (FIA ERC), Africa (FIA ARC), Asia-Pacific (FIA APRC) and Middle East (FIA MERC).

The inclusion of the CODASUR Championship in the FIA context motivated this visit of Spanish sporting officials of the RACC, promoted by the FIA, given the experience of its members. The seminar consisted of two intense working days sharing experiences and unifying criteria with some 50 officials coming from all CODASUR countries, in addition to officials from Venezuela and the Dominican Republic.  The meeting was held in the headquarters of the Argentinean Automobile Club (ACA).

The South American Motor Sports Confederation, CODASUR, is an entity made up by the automobile sport institutions of South American countries with sporting power conferred by the FIA. Some of their aims are promoting, coordinating and organising international motor sports competitions in the fields of rallying, Formula 3, Karting and Classic Cars.

CODASUR is made-up by seven countries: Argentina (Automóvil Club Argentino), Bolivia (Automóvil Club Boliviano), Brazil (Confederación Brasilera de Automovilismo), Chile (Federación Chilena de Automovilismo Deportivo), Paraguay (Touring y Automóvil Club Paraguayo), Peru (Touring y Automóvil Club Peruano) and Uruguay (Automóvil Club Uruguayo). CODASUR President is Mr. Hugo Mersán from Paraguay.
