Colin McRae in our memory. RACC Motor Sport pays tribute to who won twice the Rally Catalunya

The passing of Colin McRae on September 15th following a helicopter accident was a hard blow for the WRC. World Champion and very popular in the world of rallying, this fast driver with a spectacular and aggressive driving style also printed his mark at the Rally Catalunya, a round in which he took part nine times (1995-2003), winning twice (1995 and 2000) and finishing second once (1994). RACC Motor Sport wants to pay tribute to this exceptional sportsman holding a small public engagement in memory of Colin McRae through the screening of several pictures of his sports life, which will be attended by several guests, friends of Colin. This event, which will be counting on the presence of the WRC drivers paying tribute to the passed champion, will be held on the start podium located on the Salou Promenade at 07h30 p.m. on Thursday, October 4th, 15 minutes before the ceremonial start of the 43 RallyRACC Catalunya-COSTA DAURADA, Rally de España. There will also be a photographic exhibition of Colin McRae at the Catalan Race in the hall of the Race Headquarters in PortAventura.

ONA FM, the RallyRACC radio

An interesting novelty at the 43 RallyRACC Catalunya-COSTA DAURADA, Rally de España will be the follow-up offered to all fans through the official radio broadcaster of the race, ONA FM, member of the Spanish broadcaster Cadena SER. In the rally area, fans will be able to hear the information through the ONA FM frequencies in 97,1 (Salou-Tarragona) and 104,0 (Penedès). Moreover, the same programme will be available through other broadcasters of Cadena SER, such as Ràdio Reus (1026 OM), SER-Tarragona (97.7 FM) and Ràdio Móra d'Ebre (87.6 FM). The coverage will be live during the stages with short news during the hourly reports. On a regional and national level, Cadena SER will also be having a large dissemination of the details of the event. The journalists in charge of the rally information on site will be Sike Rodríguez and Carles Cortés, together with a large team of professionals including a studio close to the start podium and another one at the Service Park in PortAventura.

The Commercial Area, a venue filled with activities

For another year, the PortAventura theme park will be the nerve centre of the RallyRACC Catalunya-COSTA DAURADA, Rally de España, the epicentre of a race which will be offering not only all services of the race but also the typical atmosphere of a World Championship race to be enjoyed by all fans. The RallyRACC Village and the commercial area will be the main elements of this unique 14,000-m2 large space provided with areas which will be reserved for guests and sponsors, and filled with promotional and PR activities, rounded up with a refined catering offer and with a view to the teams' working areas. The VIP Village will be an exclusive space provided with boxes, TV screens, online results of the rally and a private terrace-bar.

In the Stands' Area, companies and sponsors will show their products, while the Commercial Area will be devoted to leisure activities, entertainment, simulators and general catering. There will also be two big screens with images of the race (one in the Garden area of the Village and another in the Commercial Area) giving information on the development of the event.

Further activity will be found on the Salou Promenade. This beautiful area will be the frame to host the start and finish podium and also classic activities within the programme of the Spanish round, such as the 10th Rallycontrol RACC Catalunya-COSTA DAURADA and the 15th Rallyslot Ninco Catalunya-COSTA DAURADA.
