Sébastien Loeb keeps the lead of the RallyRACC Catalunya Costa-Daurada
Dani Sordo achieved his first WRC stage win and Xevi Pons lost the third position after going off the road
Sébastien Loeb maintains the lead of the RallyRACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada alter the second leg of the race. The French driver has an advantage of more than 34 seconds from Spaniard Dani Sordo, the only one that could follow the pace of the double World Champion.
Sordo was even able to get his first stage victory in WRC, being the fastest in the second pass through Duesaigües. Surprisingly, third position is for Alex Bengue with his Peugeot 307, who is being very consistent, although he has more than two minutes deficit from the leader.
Grönholm recovers from 1st leg problems
One of the more exciting shows of the day was the recovery of Finn Marcus Grönholm (Ford Focus). The double world champion was the fastest in three out of the six stages of the day and after the turbo problems he suffered yesterday stormed up from tenth to fourth position at the end of the day.
Fifth position is for Jan Kopecki (Skoda Fabia), in front of François Duval (Skoda Fabia) and Petter Solberg (Subaru), who is struggling to get competitive times.
The bad news of the leg were for Xevi Pons (Kronos Citroën), who was third until he went off the road in the fourth stage of the day. The Catalan driver went off in a slow left turn and couldn’t get his Citroën back to the road.
A lot of public
Saturday saw a much bigger amount of public compared to Friday, but the behaviour of all the fans was excellent during all day, both in stages like Salou promenade and the Service Park in Port Aventura.
The last day of the RallyRACC will feature tour stages that start on Sunday at 7:53 with El Lloar-La Figuera stage.
