Ha conseguido el scratch con un tiempo de 22:43, mejorando en tres segundos el registro que ha conseguido él mismo en la primera pasada (TC12). El inglés Richard Burns (Subaru) ha llegado a 4.8 y Carlos Sainz (Ford) a 5.5. De esta manera, el escocés se distancia en la general provisional y ahora se encuentra a 5.9 de Burns y 11 segundos de Sainz. Tommi Makinen (Mitsubishi) ha sido cuarto del tramo a 7 segundos y Gilles Panizzi (Peugeot) quinto a 10.2. Los cinco primeros del tramo son los cinco primeros de la clasificación general, en el mismo orden. El español Luis Climent (Skoda) se ha visto obligado a abandonar al salirse de la carretera y quedarse con tres ruedas.
Colin McRae (Ford): "El tramo ha ido muy bien, aunque estaba un poco más sucio que en la primera pasada. Estoy apretando al máximo y espero sacar tiempo a los de atrás que es lo importante. Quiero y creo que puedo mantener la primera posición".
