TC:01 RICHARD BURNS EMPIEZA CON FUERZA Y CONSIGUE EL SCRATCH

Un total de 91 coches han tomado la salida en la XXVI edición del Rallye Catalunya-Costa Brava. Bastante público se ha reunido en el primer tramo cronometrado transcurrido en La Trona sobre un terreno ligeramente húmedo, pero en perfectas condiciones. El inglés Richard Burns (Subaru) ha marcado el scratch con un tiempo de 9:07.3, segundo ha sido el francés Delecour (Peugeot) con un tiempo de 9:11.4, mientras que Colin McRae con su Ford Focus WRC ha conseguido el tercer mejor tiempo con un tiempo de 9:13.6. El español de Ford, Carlos Sainz, que ha roto el limpiaparabrisas, ha finalizado sexto en el primer tramo. Kankkunen (Subaru) ha sido penalizado por llegar tarde al control horario de salida.

Richard Burns (Subaru): "Ha sido un tramo difícil, pero todo ha ido muy bien".
Carlos Sainz (Ford): "Me he equivocado al escoger los neumáticos y lo he notado".
Colin McRae (Ford): "El tramo resbalaba muchísimo y ha sido complicado".
Didier Auriol (Seat): Ha finalizado octavo en este tramo. "He tenido problemas con el cambio de marcha".
Gilles Panizzi (Peugeot): Ha finalizado cuarto en el primer tramo. "Se me va el coche de delante, me patina el morro y hay mucho barro en la carretera".

SS:01 STARTS STRONGLY AND MAKES THE SCRATCH

A total of 91 cars have started in the 36th edition of the Rallye Catalunya-Costa Brava. Quite a lot of people have gathered in the first special stage passing through La Trona on a slightly wet road, although in perfect conditions. The British driver Richard Burns (Subaru) made the scratch with a time record of 9:07.3, next has been Delecour (Peugeot), with 9:11.4, whereas Colin McRae, with his Ford Focus WRC, obtained the third best time, with 9:13.6. The Spanish Ford driver, Carlos Sainz, who broke the windscreen wiper, finished in the sixth position during the first stage. Kankkunen (Subaru) has been penalized for being late to the start's time control.

Carlos Sainz (Ford): "I made a mistake choosing the tires, and then I felt it".
Colin McRae (Ford): "The track was very slippery, and it has been complicated".
Didier Auriol (Seat ): Finished in the eighth place in the first stage "I had problems with the gearchange".

Un total de 91 cotxes han pres la sortida a la XXVI edició del Rallye Catalunya-Costa Brava. Força públic s'ha reunit en el primer tram cronometrat transcorregut a La Trona sobre terreny lleugerament humit, però en perfectes condicions. L'anglès Richard Burns ha marcat l'scratch amb un temps d'9:07.3, segon ha estat el francès Delecour (Peugeot) amb un temps de 9:11.4, mentre que Colin McRae amb el seu Ford Focus WRC ha aconseguit el tercer millor temps amb un temps de 9:13.6. L'espanyol de Ford, Carlos Sainz, que ha trencat l'eixugavidres i ha finalitzat sisè en el primer tram. Kankkunen (Subaru) estat penalitzat per arribar tard al control horari de sortida.

Carlos Sainz (Ford): "M'he equivocat a l'escollir els pneumàtics i ho he notat".
Colin McRae (Ford): "El tram relliscava moltíssim i ha estat complicat".
Didier Auriol (Seat): Ha finalitzat vuitè en aquest tram. "El cotxe em marxa del davant, i hi ha molt fang".
Gilles Panizzi (Peugeot): Ha finalitzat quart el primer tram. "Em marxa el cotxe del davant, em patinai hi ha molt fang a la carretera".
