RallyRACC, day 2, Friday: In the mixed part lies the difficulty

26/10/2018

It conveys the special character to the only mixed rally of the WRC. Today, three stages will be run:

Gandesa, 7 km of gravel
This special stage, which is changing direction this year, has been named after the village from which it starts: Gandesa. The stage that runs along the RT-10 track has now become a continuous descent. The gravel ground turns it into a stage with excellent conditions to be able to use the complete width. The first part is slower and twisty and the second part becomes faster as it gets to the finish, including several linked bends at high speed. There are six spectator areas so that the public enjoy the rally.

Pesells, 26,59 km also of gravel
Very fast special stage with a high pace, including several sections that will put the driving style of the competitors to the test. The surface is excellent, mostly covered by a thin layer of gravel, although there are also a few asphalted sections in certain areas. It is a fast special, but with some complicated breaking sections. Its main feature are the linked bends. The final section of the stage is the same as last year, when it was raced under the name of `Caseres´. This year the special will cover a total of 26 km, a true challenge. There are six spectator areas, with their details available at the spectator guide in www.rallyracc.com.

La Fatarella–Vilalba, gravel and asphalt on a long special stage of almost 39 km
Terra Alta, a historic special stage of the RallyRACC, has a make-over: It changes its usual direction and adds a completely new finish, which makes this already highly selective layout even more difficult.

The special starts in La Fatarella, to make the first change from tarmac to gravel and face the first part of the stage, a very fast section with several tracks that may confuse the participants. The descent becomes sharper in a very complicated area, in the middle of the forest and filled with bumps, until reaching the chapel of Sant Francesc and the first tarmac section. The special coasts along the following gravel section until reaching the intersection at Riba-roja. From then on, participants will face the longest tarmac section, first going upwards and then downwards, until reaching the intersection in La Pobla de Massaluca. The slope to Vilalba dels Arcs is the same as last year, but it is faced after 30 km of the special. After the intersection on tarmac, right below the village, there is a straight, and 500 metres later there is another intersection, but this time, the participants will turn to the left to finish on gravel. . In being a long and important stage, it has six spectator areas.
