2nd Rally Catalunya Històric-Trofeu Dues Catalunyes: 2 and 3 March 2018

25/10/2017

The second edition of the Rally Catalunya Històric-Trofeu Dues Catalunyes will be staged on 2 and 3 March 2018, again as a linear regularity race for classic cars, on closed roads and with all the innovations of the first edition, that marked a trend in the way that strictly regularity rallies should be organised, such as sections on closed roads, averages of up to 55 km/h and two types of averages to choose from, as well as a series of comfort features which turn it into a true Premium event.

After the clear success of the first edition, the RACC continues evolving the concept with the aim of providing the Rally Catalunya Històric in a short time with the tradition of the best regularity events for classic cars on the continent. This second edition will admit the participation of vehicles built between 1947 and 1984, grouped in 6 classes. Cars built in 1985 and 1986 will be able to take part as well, following the criteria of the organiser, but will only be able to opt for the class trophy and not the final classification.

The entry fees (1,300 and 1,150 for RACC members) include Premium type features, all-included: entry fees, welcome buffet before the start, dinner and overnight hotel accommodation in a double room (breakfast included) for driver and co-driver on the first day; half-way lunch during the second stage for both; closure dinner with prize-giving and hotel accommodation in a double room (breakfast include) for driver and co-driver on the second day; luggage transport during the rally; Blunik timekeeping; GPS follow-up; sending of stage-by-stage results to mobile devices; exclusive presents, metal plate of the event and finisher memento for both crew members.

The 2nd Rally Catalunya Històric-Trofeu Dues Catalunyes will be staged on two days, with start (2 March at 15h) and finish (3 March 20.30h) in Barcelona.  The initial stage, a large part of which will be run at night, will have around 250 km. The 2nd stage, run completely in daylight, will take participants to France, with a stop for lunch, to return to Barcelona from the neighbouring country after around 450 km.

The final podium of the 1st Rally Catalunya Històric-Trofeu Dues Catalunyes (2017) was shared by Carles Miró-Ivan Matavacas (Porsche 911 SC), Manel Roura-Antoni Moragas (Fiat 131 Abarth) and Joan Rollán-Álvaro Rollán (Porsche 911 T 2.2). The 2nd Rally Catalunya Històric will be again a remembrance of the Rallye de les Dues Catalunyes, which was held six times, organised by the Club.

Rally Catalunya
The Rally Catalunya, which is known today as RallyRACC, is the scoring round towards the FIA World Rally Championship that is held in our country. The first edition was staged in 1957 after the merger with the Volta a Catalunya, a race that was organised by the RACC as well since 1916. The Rally Catalunya-Volta a Catalunya remained on the calendar until 1964 and nine years later, in 1973, the Rally Catalunya was restarted as a scoring round towards the Spanish Championship, to become part of the European Championship in 1980 and of the World Championship in 1991.

Rallye de les Dues Catalunyes
The Rally de les Dues Catalunyes was a rally that was organised by the RACC with the collaboration of A.S. Automobile Club du Roussillon, which was staged from 1960 to 1965 and in most of those years it was a scoring round of the Spanish and French Rally Championships. It was a mixed speed-regularity event and in its last editions, one of the special stages was raced at the Montjuïc circuit. A special feature of this rally was that every year, the route was covered in opposite direction of the previous year, i.e. one year it started in Barcelona and the next in Perpignan.
