After 9 stages, Kris Meeke (Citroën) takes the lead

07/10/2017

With a scratch for Meeke-Nagle (Citroën) at El Montmell and for Hänninen-Lindström (Toyota) at El Pont d'Armentera and Savallà, the first loop of the second day of the 53 RallyRACC came to an end. The main point is that the leader after yesterday's leg, Andreas Mikkelsen (Hyundai), lost some terran and Citroën's Irish driver took the lead ahead of Tänak-Järveoja, Ogier-Ingrassia (both with Ford) and Sordo-Martí (Hyundai), who did a good loop and have and can still aim for any place.

This is the overall provisional classification of the 53 RallyRACC after 9 stages, still with the afternoon loop and the Salou street stage to go:

1-Kris Meeke/Paul Nagle (Citroën C3 WRC), 1h42'482
2-Ott Tänak/Martin Järveoja (Ford Fiesta WRC), a 135
3-Sébastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia (Ford Fiesta WRC), a 138
4-Daniel Sordo/Marc Martí (Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC), a 146
5-Andreas Mikkelsen/Anders Jaeger (Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC), a 208
6-Juho Hänninen/Kaj Lindström (Toyota Yaris WRC), a 276
7-Mads Østberg/Torstein Eriksen (Ford Fiesta WRC), a 466
8-Thierry Neuville/Nicolas Gilsoul (Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC), a 531
9-Esapekka Lappi/Janne Ferm (Toyota Yaris WRC), a 10175
10-Stéphane Lefebvre/Gabin Moreau (Citroën C3 WRC), a 1'302

During this morning, the team of Nil Solans-Miquel Ibàñez (Ford Fiesta R2T) mathematically secured the JWRC Championship title. As the winner of each stage receives one point, Solans has already secured his victory in the Junior championship ahead of Nicolas Ciamin, who is now leading the category at the RallyRACC.

After a 30' service in PortAventura World, the participants will face the second loop through El Montmell (13.08h), El Pont d'Armentera (14.15h) and Savallà (15.02h), before finishing the day at the Salou street stage (17h).
