20 years with a calendar made up of more than 10 rallies
1996 was the last year with less than 10 scoring rounds, namely 9. From 1997 onwards, the WRC calendar experienced a major increase including up to 14 rallies, and even 16 from 2004. The new race formats introduced for the WRC events, which reduced total distances, made this increase possible. The 13 rallies that will be scoring towards the 2017 championship, are the same number of rallies as in the recently ended season and in the last seven seasons.
