SS 17/SS 19 – Duesaigües Special stage guide

General description

Duesaigües is another very popular stage of the RallyRACC, formerly known as Riudecanyes. Just like one year ago, it will be run in opposite direction and will be almost completely going upwards, starting in Riudecanyes and finishing in the famous roundabouts of Coll de la Teixeta.

The stage starts with a light downhill section until the intersection at Riudecanyes, to start going up towards Duesaigües, skirting the reservoir of Riudecanyes, with a very technical ascent to reach the last section crossing a few wooden areas and going under the famous train bridge.

The section before the finish is well known due to its characteristic roundabouts on the N-420 road. The mountain acts as natural grandstand offering a great area to watch the cars negotiating the last roundabout, around which the participants will have to make a complete lap (doughnut style).  The special stage finishes a few metres after the last roundabout heading for Porrera.

Spectator Area ZP-1

First fast section going slightly downwards until the intersection of Riudecanyes. The cars must negotiate the last roundabout on the left hand side (in stage direction) to continue driving up to Duesaigües.

Access: From Montbrió del Camp take the T-313 road to Riudecanyes. Another way to arrive is from Vilanova d’Escornalbou following the road on the right hand heading for Riudecanyes.

Parking: Limited car parking area in Riudecanyes.

Spectator Area ZP-2

The first part of the section is a zigzag over a bridge leaving the access to the village of Duesaigües behind. It is quite fast and continues to the second part that ends after the village and goes under the train bridge. Safe location in the edges and the hillside close to the road.

Access: From exit 37 of the AP-7 highway, take T-312 to Montbrió del Camp and then follow T-310 to get close to Mont-roig del Camp. Just before taking the road bordering the village, you will find signs to go to Vilanova d’Escornalbou following T-321. Cross the village and follow the signs to the picturesque village of L’Argentera. 2.6 km later you will find the access to the stage in Duesaigües. Be careful when crossing the small village of L’Argentera, as it is a very narrow area.

Spectator Area ZP-3

It is one of the best-known areas of the event. The roundabout with a natural grandstand offers excellent views of the race cars passing. The drivers will make a complete lap of more than 360º at the second roundabout to finish the special a few metres later. It is one of the most spectacular parts of the two asphalt days. Safe location on the hillside.

Access: Driving on the former N-420 road, follow the access after the village of Les Irles.

Parking: Large car parking area prepared on the former N-420, always taking care to provide for a free lane.
