RallyRACC 2011

The Costa Daurada in Tarragona and especially the village of Salou and the PortAventura theme park experience the RallyRACC, for the eighth year in a row, with special intensiveness as hosts to the Spanish round of the WRC.

The rally, which has found a perfect base in PortAventura, is an excellent promotional and economic platform for the whole region. The Service Park, with its more than sixty thousand square metres, set-up in one of the parking areas of the theme park is visited by thousands of rally fans, as this is obviously one of the main attractions of the event.

The Rally Headquarters and the Media Centre are located in the PortAventura Convention Centre. On the first floor, there is a large multifunctional room for all media representatives and next to it are the Headquarters of the Rally. The organisation and a large part of the crews and teams of the world championship are accommodated in the Hotel Caribe PortAventura.

And although the city of Salou throws itself into the world championship event, it is going to play an even major role this year at the RallyRACC. In addition to being the venue of the new Qualifying Stage (former Shakedown), which is held in the area of Emprius, with gravel and asphalt sections to offer drivers the chance to test on both surfaces, the city will also be hosting a true urban stage included as closing stage of the itinerary on the first rally day, with a route alongside the beach, running in parallel to the Promenade.

This will be a great novelty both for the city and the rally, a centre of attention for fans and public in general, who will have the crews and the vehicles of the world championship closer than ever before. The 2-kilometre stage of Salou will be run only once on Friday 9 November at 17:00h as the sixth and last special stage of the day. A regrouping which has been scheduled before the running of the stage will allow watching the crews as they get ready for this urban stage which will have the sea as a backdrop.

And although this year the start ceremony of the RallyRACC will be staged in Barcelona, the podium in Salou will be the venue of the prize-giving on Sunday 11 November from three o'clock in the afternoon.
