Although the RACC's career is well-known for its incredible efforts in favour of motor sports, promoting and organising huge international events in the field of car and motorbike racing, such as the RallyRACC, the F1 GP and the MotoGP GP, Barcelona, for its own idiosyncrasy, is a dynamic, plural city, which is open to the world and full of activities and leisure offers. Barcelona is the cradle of important figures, of iconic architecture; it is the venue of major international trade fairs such as the Mobile World Congress and home to clubs that go beyond sports such as the FC Barcelona... A large variety of aspects, facets and nuances that project the city to the world.

But Barcelona does also get deeply involved in all kinds of sports, in many cases as the venue of European or worldwide events. The city hosted the 1992 Olympic Games and now, 20 years later, it continues hosting events of all kinds that show to the world the beauty, ability to surprise and progress of a Mediterranean city that has become a true universal benchmark.

Following this line, Barcelona was the first European city to establish a strategic plan for sports more than a decade ago. One of the pillars of this plan was gathering enough experience and achieving the international recognition of the city as organiser and host of all kinds of high level sports events.

And this is its current status: A city that makes it easier and encourages practicing sports, an activity that, at the same time, builds the city from the social perspective.  In 2012, the city and its metropolitan area have been host to renowned sports events with a large repercussion: Barcelona Indoor Trial, Superenduro World Championship, Barcelona Marathon, Trofeo Conde de Godó, F1 Spanish GP, Gran Premi de Catalunya de MotoGP, World Junior Athletic Championship, etc. And after the summer break, the city will be welcoming other great events: FIM Freestyle MX World Championship (September); Torneig Internacional de Polo-Barcelona Polo Cląssic (October); Barcelona Triathlon (October) or the well known Jean Bouin in November, the same month the World Rally Championship will be visiting Barcelona with the RallyRACC.
