| RallyRACC 2010 |
In addition to the sporting attraction on the 9 stages making up the race, the RallyRACC has a whole range of activities for enjoyment of the large public, most of them in the venues which make up the headquarters of the rally: Salou and PortAventura, the perfect place to dynamically deploy the logistics and organization of this event.
Salou, a tourist destination and especially its promenade Paseo Marítimo Jaume I is the centre of action both before and during the race. Since last year, the area of Emprius in Salou is also host to the Shakedown stage on Thursday, 20 October, in the morning, bringing competition closer to the city, offering drivers the chance to have a first contact with the race surrounded by crowds of fans.
World championship drivers signing autographs before the start
The stars of the world championship will be participating in the traditional autograph session which is held every year at the specially prepared stands on the Jaume I promenade in Salou. The session is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday. At 8 p.m. the organization will give the official start of the rally from the podium, a place that will not only host the ceremonial start but also the finish of the event and the final prize-giving, attracting the most number of fans.
Civility on the bike: activities for the youngest
In addition to the village that gathers large crowds of rally fans, the Jaume I promenade in Salou will also be hosting a parallel activity supported by the RACC, called Bicivisme (Civility on the bike). It is a track on which the youngest, equipped with a bike and a helmet, will follow a layout to promote values when sharing public roads with other road users. They will learn how to anticipate dangerous situations and to respect road signs and other people. This educational activity will be carried out on 22 and 23 October, coinciding with the weekend and the largest number of visitors. The track will be supervised by instructors and will be open from 11 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. on both days, and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday.
RallySlot Ninco, with a special edition of Pep Bassas' BMW
Another traditional event around the RallyRACC is the RallySlot Ninco which will be held for the 19th time gathering close to 400 participants who will try to emulate the abilities of the official drivers with their slot cars.
The Jaume I promenade will host the tent in which a scale reproduction of the RallyRACC special stages will serve as a venue for the different qualifying rounds that will be held on the three rally days including the prize-giving on the last day.
As a novelty, there will be a new timing system with data transmission via Bluetooth and provisional classifications after each stage. This year, the yearly limited edition will be the BMW M3-Blaupunkt that had been driven by Pep Bassas, the original model of which, in a 1/1 scale, will be displayed at the entrance of the tent.
And in PortAventura, the service park as big "attraction"
Completing the activity in Salou, the PortAventura theme park will host the service park in one of their large parking areas, as well as several merchandising stands for all fans to enjoy.
The rally headquarters, as well as all the services available to the media will be located for the third year in a row in the modern and ideal PortAventura Convention Centre.
