The big novelty in the coverage by the Catalan TV channel TV3 of the RallyRACC Catalunya-COSTA DAURADA will be the live broadcasting of the second passage of the Riudecanyes stage on Saturday, 23, from 3.30 p.m., within a special programme that will have a duration of more than two hours. The broadcasting will be made through Canal 33 and simultaneously on the new ESPORT 3 channel, which will be starting with test emissions that very same weekend, and www.elsesports.cat.

A three-party agreement
This new edition of the RallyRACC Catalunya COSTA-DAURADA won’t be “another” rally for TV3 viewers. The large number of Catalan fans will have the chance to watch the 16 kilometres of the Riudecanyes stage live. It is one of the most spectacular stages of this year’s itinerary. The close collaboration between TV3, RACC and North One Sport (commercial rights holder of the world rally championship) will make it possible to make a technically very complex project real. There have been other live broadcasts of the world rally championship in recent years, but most of them focussed on following the so-called super special stages, i.e. short stages in closed or delimited venues, more similar to a circuit than to a real rally stage.

From every angle
The proposal submitted by TV3 goes beyond the usual broadcasts, aiming to keep the essence of this spectacular sport by broadcasting a true stage, offering the images of the WRCars brushing past the trees on the roadsides, with all the intensiveness and spectacularity. The most genuine way to experience a rally is from inside a car, and this will be one of the image perspectives used during the broadcast. The on board cameras will be one of the highlights of the broadcast. It will be possible to watch live what is happening inside the cars, as well as to hear the co-driver reading the notes, with the excitement of knowing that all of it is happening right then, inside the cockpits of Loeb, Sordo or Räikkönen.

In addition to the on board cameras, there will be the birds-view images sent by the helicopter camera (WESCAM), and also the cameras located along the stage, especially at the start and the finish.

A first-class team
The broadcast will be led by Santi Faro, who will be joined by an exceptional team, starting with rally driver Xevi Pons. The current leader of the S-WRC class will help spectators to understand the difficulties and secrets of this type of race. In addition to Pons, the Canal 33 and ESPORT 3 broadcast will be counting on Luis Moya, something of an institution in the world of rallying and an extraordinary analyst to co-drive a broadcast like this.

The whole display will be completed by the traditional coverage by TV3 from Thursday to Sunday, with permanent information on the news channel 3/24 and the programmes Telenotícies, Esport club and Motor a fons. The sports portal www.elsesports.cat will also be following the rally and broadcasting the Riudecanyes stage.
