RallyRACC in the 2011 WRC calendar

The FIA and North One Sport, Promoter of the FIA World Rally Championship have announced that the calendar for the 2011 edition of the championship will consist of 14 scoring races, including the 47th RallyRACC, Rally de Espaņa, planned to be staged on 21, 22 and 23 October 2011 as penultimate scoring round. However, the FIA has published only a list of 13 races. The 14th event will be added not later than after the meeting of the World Motor Sport Council on 23 June in Geneva.

The 2011 calendar was proposed by the WRC Promoter, North One Sport, and each of the races it is made-up of was voted by the World Council members. One of the aspects clearly showing the significance of the Spanish Rally within the worldwide context is that the RACC and North One Sport will start negotiations in order to have the Spanish race among the standard races in successive seasons, thus providing the race with an extraordinary stability.

Aman Barfull, Director of the Sports Area at the RACC, and RallyRACC Clerk of the Course, confirms the importance and prestige enjoyed by the Spanish round among drivers, teams and the FIA: "It is a great satisfaction for all of us to confirm that the RallyRACC is considered one of the rallies that will be part of the next edition of the World Championship. For our club and for Spanish motor sports, being an unquestionable piece within this championship must fill us with pride. Now we have to plan for the future and to continue keeping our race within the best, working with the different entities in our country in order to boost this chance that has been offered to us for the future".

With the 14th event yet to be decided, the WRC calendar for 2011 will start in Sweden (11 to 13 February) and finish exactly nine months later (11 to 13 November). Thus, the 2011 World Rally Championship will be visiting (in chronological order) Sweden, Mexico, Portugal, Jordan, Italy, Argentina, Greece, Finland, Germany, Australia, France, Spain, and Great Britain, as well as a new country which is yet to be decided.

The dates planned for the 2010 edition of the RallyRACC (the 46th edition) are from 22 to 24 October. It will be the triggering point of longer term planning view for the Spanish round of the World Rally Championship.
